Why is it so hurtful to be shunned? Why object to it?

it seems like many feel hurt or saddened by the practice of shunning by witnesses.. yes, when ones who we were close to, perhaps family or ones we thought were close friends choose to follow the warped directions of the society, it may seem hurtful.. but really, our reaction is up to us.

the fact is, these ones have shown that in reality, their love for us was never real or genuine.

no, those relationships were superficial and lacking in substance.

What get me about shunning and my None JW family, my ex- and her husband shows up

at MY JW family members gathering and on vacation she and her husband travail to visit

MY JW family members.We have been divorce over 25 years and I have no idea who my

nephews and nieces are. My sister told me it makes her ill (who never was a JW) when my

JW side of the family have a gathering and my ex and her husband is there.

It was a ugly divorce and I believe the ex is enjoying it. She rarely visit her own family members, none

are JW's...It bugs the hell out of me.....

Family contact in terminal illness cases.

i had not seen my parents for over 15 years since the funeral of my brother and even then no one spoke to me as i was da.

my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2014 and i was then permitted contact with them.

i now know the reason that this is allowed.

My ex-neighbor a JW live in a Senior home, a JW for over 60 years. No children, no wife and

one sister(not a JW) that live in another city. He calls me to see if I can come by to visit, the funny thing

he knows I was once a JW. Two elderly sisters visit him once a month to drop off the Mags,

the Elders maybe visit once or twice a year.I ask him why the friends don't come by more often

for a visit? He told me the old ones have passed or they are to old to drive and the new ones don't know him.

So now he is visited by an Apostate (me), but we talk about his time in the Dutch Nazi prison camp, his love for music,

and his love for Canada we never speak about the Bible. But it's sad.....I thought about contacting

his KH and tell them I'am a Apostate and your brother_____ call me to come by because he has no visitors.

I bet you that will increase his visitors or he will get DF. A sick organization....

Does it not dawn on the cart witnesses?

i sat in town recently, right in the window of a nice wee pub.

within minutes i realised that i had a perfect view of a jw cart and the two ridiculously dressed jw's (they have absolutely no individuality at all.

what's more, they all look like they're going to a funeral).

My grandson did a class report on the effect of cart Witnesses in Chicago. His

finding, the hours he watched not one person stopped to talk. He observed people

looking the other way when passing the cart and the JW's seem not to be interesting

in talking to anyone. He concluded the Witnesses are definitely advertising in his area, their

carts are everywhere. Is it a waste of time? Well maybe but their God (Jehovah) name is out there in

the faces of folks.

smiddy: It doesn't make sense "God blessing the nation they still had such diseases".

Come on, God should have known what cause Leprosy. And still in Jesus day it was still

viewed as unclean spiritually.

In the Bible leprosy is mentioned upwards of 40 times. The main reason why leprosy is talked

about so much is the Bible is that it is a graphic illustration of sin's destructive power. In ancient Israel

leprosy was a powerful object lesson of the debilitating influence of sin in a person's life.

My question what did these unfortunate folks do???

Leviticus 13: God had given his people very specific instruction on how to deal with leprosy.

Lev.13:2-3 Go to a priest and if found infected "wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose,

and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, 'Unclean, unclean. He shall live alone and his dwelling shall

be outside the camp.

Lev. 13:45-46 the leper then was considered utterly unclean-physically and spiritually.

How are they spiritually unclean?

The all knowing God of the OT was cruel...
